It sure doesn't seem likely, considering Tornado Marketing doesn't provide financial advice and relies on a bookkeeper to keep the accounts all straightened out....but let's set aside the issue of unsolicited (ahem, SPAM) email.
Here's the email I received yesterday.
The thing is, if I HAD been a financial advisor, I may have looked closely at this solicitation as an opportunity... because, why wouldn't I want an award?! I might not want to pay thousands of dollars in advertising, but they may have hooked me with the award itself being free.
This email illustrates the importance of segmenting your email marketing list!
- Products they own
- Products they've expressed interest in
- Role / Title in organization
- ...and whatever else makes sense for YOUR organization!
Every modern marketing tool today gives you options to segment your list. You just have to be disciplined enough to do it. If you don't have a great handle who is on your list today, you can either create a survey, make a phone call - or send your list to a service to append additional information to it.
